As we continue in our series in the Psalms, we will see this week that it is the LORD who provides, redeems and brings back. We hear the stories of four sinners that cry out to God and through his love he delivers them. How do we take hold of his redeeming power and love, through our faith and sanctification and trust in him to answer prayer? Let’s pray for fruit this Sunday as elder Mike Allen walks us through Psalm 107.
Discipleship Teaching of the Week
Talking to friends, family, co-workers and other people in our lives about Jesus is not easy. As the comedian Jim Gaffigan says, “It doesn’t matter if you’re religious or not…does anything make you more uncomfortable than some stranger going ‘I’d like to talk to you about Jesus.’” Now we might need to get awkward from time to time. The gospel is too important to let politeness get in our way. But I think there is a truth embedded here.
The people we want to give the gospel to need to know that we love them. We’re not trying to get them to join a cult. We’re not trying to get them to buy something. We want them to know the Jesus we know. We want them to know the grace we know. And so, in most cases, we need to break through their defenses and reach their heart. How do we do this?
Be interested in them. The late pastor Jack Miller was asked why people opened up to him so easily. He said, “I am more interested in them than they are in themselves.”
This is profound and simple. It is not easy, but it is simple. Ask questions. Listen to their answers. Remember their stories. Be slow to speak. Follow up. Serve them. And when the time is right, say with confidence, “I’d like to talk to you about Jesus.” It might be awkward. But it will be worth it.

July and August Service Time Change: 9:00AM As you may have heard, the Elders and Deacons have decided to change the Sunday service time to 9am for July and August. There are two reasons for this. The first is to beat the heat (our worship space does not have air conditioning). And the second reason is to bolster our Summer attendance! We hope you will make it a priority to attend services when you are in town. If you have questions about this, reach out to any of our leaders.
Sink Hole Update: As you have likely noticed, a sink hole developed in our front parking lot several weeks ago. The deacons have been working with professionals to assess the source of the damage and develop a plan for repair that will prevent it from happening again. This will be an expensive project, and we are doing our best to ensure that the money is used wisely and the job is done right. We are hopeful that repairs will begin this coming week. A large portion of the front parking lot will be excavated in the repair process; we appreciate your patience during this process. Feel free to contact Joe or Sandra with any questions.
Ladies Monday Evening Bible Study: Please join us Monday evenings at 7:00pm at the church. We are studying Overcomer by David Jeremiah. Join us as Dr. Jeremiah explains how our spiritual armor allows us to stand firm against the schemes and strategies of the evil one.

Men’s Bible Study: Men please join us as we study the book of Galatians. We are using Tim Keller’s book Galatians For You. We meet every Thursday from 6:30-7:30a at the church. All men are invited!
Help in the Café: We need someone to fill in on the 3rd Sunday of the month for Café for August thru October (8/18, 9/15, 10/20). If you can’t take all of these months you can volunteer for any one of these dates. Please contact Alison to volunteer or to ask questions.
Cuddling Babies: If you like to cuddle and hold babies, this opportunity is for you! Lawrence General Hospital is always looking for volunteers to help soothe and comfort babies who may not have a mom present to do so. The volunteer commitment is only as much or as little as you desire. Coverage is needed 7 days a week from 7am-10pm and is greatly appreciated by the staff and the babies! If you would like more information please feel free to contact Kim Wilkinson.
Helping with Slides: We are looking for a few people to train to use our worship slides program. It’s very easy and a good way to serve at GracePoint. Please contact Joe if you would like to know more.
Ministries at GracePoint: Do you feel that God is calling you to serve at GracePoint? Right now we need help in our Kids Town ministry! In addition, we are always looking for volunteers to serve in our café, on the worship and tech teams. Please pray and ask God where he wants you to serve.
