Psalm 109 is a hard psalm. On the one hand, we know that evil and injustice exist in this fallen world. But, on the other hand, David’s responsive prayer seems bitter and, perhaps even wicked. How do we respond to Psalms like these? And more important, how do we incorporate them into our worship? Pray for clarity and fruit.
Discipleship Teaching of the Week
It was another brutal week of terror in our country, and it is hard to know how to respond. But I do think that, at least with the track in El Paso, it is important to condemn clearly and confidently what seemed to motivate the attacker. White-nationalism in all its forms is anathema to the gospel. And our best response to it, as recipients of God’s grace, is to care for our minority friends. Created in the image of God, many of them our brothers and sisters in Christ, we must care and speak for them when they are caricatured, maligned, and, as we saw this week, targeted.
