This Week’s Sermon: “Blessed are the Weak”

We have some news. Our last Sunday at GracePoint Community Church will be July 26th. And so that means we have four more Sundays together. That means I have four more opportunities to preach to you from God’s good book.

I consider it the deepest honor that you have let me be your teacher, by God’s grace, these past six years. I have not earned it, and I have not deserved it. But it has been my joy. And so I want to leave you well, with four of the scriptures that have most shaped me and my ministry.

My first real sermon series was on Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount. I picked it because it sounded cool. But the Lord picked it because we needed it. His teaching is not just counter cultural. It gives us a picture of life that is other-worldly and good. And so we will tackle the first few verses this Sunday (Matthew 5:3-5), to see that Kingdom life–the happy life–is not won by our strength, but by our weakness. Pray for humility and joy.

July 12th: Baptisms and the Lord’s Supper
We’re getting the band back together! I am so excited to invite you to our first time back as a church Sunday, July 12th (time TBD, but probably 5pm). We will bring lawn chairs, sing some songs, see some people get baptized, and take communion together! We will have many more details in the days to come, but we hope to see you there!

Pastoral Transition
If you are just learning about the news of my departure from GracePoint, please see the video Jessica and I made here, and read a letter from the Elders here. The Elders are busy preparing for the transition and covet your prayers. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to me or them.
