This Week’s Sermon: “When God Is At His Best” By Pastor Dave Brown

Sunday’s message from 1 Samuel 22:1-3 speaks of failure and how to respond to it. Failure is only failure when we give up and quit. Failure is really an opportunity for God to show us His best work on our behalf. When Jesus died on the cross it appeared to all that His life was a great failure. They put Him in a cave and thought it was all over…but it wasn’t. He rose again for you and me. God does His best work in a cave.

Updates From Pastor Dave

Times of pastoral transition are windows of opportunity. For a congregation that seizes the opportunity, it can be a transformational turning point toward greater health and mission effectiveness. Welcoming a new lead pastor to a healthy, functioning, spiritually renewed congregation is a goal worth pursuing.

We must continue to use this interim period as effectively as possible. A reasonably healthy church might assume it can bypass this experience. So all that we are doing together is to try to improve the spiritual health of our church.  We don’t want to just go through a pastoral transition. Rather, we want to grow through this pastoral transition.

Our Transition Team is doing a great job to help us accomplish this. Let’s continue to pray for them and for open doors of ministry and the favor of God as we go forward.

Kids Town – Easter Sunday

This week we remember Jesus’ death on Good Friday and his resurrection on Easter Sunday. The death and resurrection of Jesus is the center of the gospel. Why?

Because our sin separates us from God, but Jesus died in our place to pay the price for our sin and make us right with God. Since Jesus is alive today, we don’t need to be anxious about the present or be afraid of the future. Everyone who trusts in Jesus has forgiveness and eternal life, and we’re empowered by his Holy Spirit to joyfully obey him!

Elder Information

The Elder Nominating Committee recently recommended Jason Diaz as a nominee to serve as an Elder. The Elders have ratified that recommendation. If any member of the congregation knows of reasons why Jason is not biblically qualified to serve, please submit such information/evidence to the Nominating Committee (Tim Adler, Alison Ellison or Jim Bolton) for consideration on or before May 4, 2021.
