As we prepare for the pastoral transition from Pastor Dave to Pastor Tate this Sunday, let’s reflect on Paul’s words to Timothy in 2 Timothy 4:1-5:
- I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom:
- preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.
- For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions,
- and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.
- As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.
In his closing words, Paul tells Timothy — and every pastor after him — to be faithful to preach God’s Word, no matter what.
God has blessed GracePoint with faithful preaching since its inception. Our prayer and expectation is for that to continue.
We want to celebrate and thank Pastor Dave for a job well done.
We want to celebrate new beginnings with Pastor Tate, Nicole, and their family.
And once the celebrations end and the next season begins, we want to remember that above all, we want God to help us accurately hear His Word with an attentive heart and a spirit that is eager and willing to do what He says.
